Caleb is a 2020 graduate of Toledo Christian and attended TC 2nd grade through senior year.

some of the activities that I did while I was a student here at Toledo Christian where that was on the track team track and cross-country I love that had a fantastic experience there I was also house leader for my sophomore year up that was really great to shout out to mr. westmeyer that was a fantastic learning experience for helping to engage with my peers and peer leadership and understanding Dynamics other students other individuals and how to work with different personality types with something that was a huge learning and growth experience for me and then additionally I was a part of the worship team for the chapel from my freshman year and that was something that I I just I love to do so those work those are amazing experiences I really enjoyed those number of activities together we're over time one another really well and it's bands from Seniors freshman to their freshman the same classroom as seniors for about 15 minutes a day and through that you get to connect with people who are in different friend groups different age ranges different stages of life really and because of that it provides a really unique opportunity to have mentorship and experiences that you wouldn't normally have with people who are outside of your friend group so houses are is a really special opportunity right TC honestly one of things that say great sit in the community from other schools so as a sophomore I started off as a house captain and I worked with the House of Joseph and then I moved to the School Chaplain where I helped direct the chapel some the chapel services and also the Chaplin role in houses like all the house chaplains and then finally I was a high school Captain which is like the captain of all the house captains and helping them organized and just supporting them behind the scenes which is a lot of you know working with hey here let's plan some do activities how are we going to organize the next month the next week next quarter of games that I got to work really closely with Mrs. Kanfeld and Mr. Westmeyer which was very helpful for my development. One of the the biggest experiences of my entire career was in Elementary School Mrs Segler taught Higher Ground and for me that was just a place to unlock creativity and unlock just this special opportunity to play with ideas to challenge myself and to learn in ways that I hadn't before. For me it was like school kind of came easily and Higher Ground provided that area and place for me to challenge myself in ways I hadn't before had previously had the opportunity to do so. Another favorite and his favorite memory and me forever with something that wasn't necessary plan I think this is I'm into the care of the teachers at Toledo Christian show for their students. It was my senior year and every day I had this study hall during 4th. So I had to study hall during fourth. And one day early in life in the semester I realized oh Mr. Rabb you know my English teacher I love Mr. Rabb Mr. Rabb as a study hall at the same time and I saw him in the library in another room and I was like oh I'll go over and I'll just talk to him and that developed into something where every single day Mr. Rabb and I would meet during fourth. And we would just talk for 45 minutes sometimes into the lunch. Like we would just go at it and we would learn all kinds of stuff like I truly the way I see the world and the way that I think and how I've developed is a huge product of that extra investment in time that Mr. Rabb showed to me and but if it wasn't for that I don't know exactly where I would be in person like I learned so much in those conversations got to explore myself in the world and perspective and those aren't things are in the classroom like that's not something that the teacher supposed to do that was above and beyond I had Mr. Rabb as both a sophomore offer English and then as a senior for English as well and has worked fantastic specially senior year English that was probably my favorite class I ever Toledo Christian and it was so interesting because Mr. Rabb and does have a way of just opening people up and making them feel comfortable in a space like I've never seen before so we had conversations in that class that we're just expansive. That really helped a lot of people everybody in the class really felt free to share and to open up people who may be traditionally had not done so and it was a space for people to learn to grow and to talk about things or maybe controversial or talk about ideas difficult challenging challenging to our faith challenging to our worldview but be free about it and I think I was super essential because if you don't do that you don't have the resiliency later on in life because you just live in a bubble and I think what relief one of the things that really helps me and won the class and that was why I asked one of my favorite experiences. Coming from 2nd grade all the way to senior year having not just Bible classes real Bible classes and those are really great but it's like in every class there's a Common Thread there's a common weaving of this idea of Christ and the Bible and the tenets and principles of it then it's just like it's so universal it's so multifaceted that's what a Christ-like life looks like he's using that in all areas of how we live so I really felt like I understood the foundation and knowing the word and understand the stories but also application Biblical principles through classes through history through English even through Sciences on and those like kind of that weaving together really provided him like a base level for me to understand and know what the Bible says in the word and its teachings and it became my second nature because it was constantly there and then I grew to understand that so well. So going into the senior year I had a couple schools that I was looking at after graduation I want to go. and a number place I looked at mainly came to this the school call John Carroll in Cleveland and then University of South Carolina and I was trying to look all so it wouldn't be able to these places University of Michigan was also somewhere I play but after a while it really came down to these two and as Covid near Covid came up and hit and I was having a lot of conversations with the coach from John Carroll and not only that just like getting to visit for that a little bit through the fall and then covid it in the spring and we actually had planned over spring break to go visit the University of South Carolina and now something I could no longer do their campus visits allowed there's nothing like that everything was on lockdown and just have like I'm not going to pick a school that I haven't you know visit it but it's really interesting I don't feel a regret towards I need a know I should have gone South Carolina I needed to because I found such a good fit in John Carroll and in a lot of ways it parallels to Toledo Christian with that you know it feels like the professor's care it feels like a lot of used I look for a college we're actually things I experience in Toledo Christian and so I pulled from my experiences at TC and said hey what do I want now that I I learned from improve and that was a huge part of my decision so now I'm studying I thought I was going to be sitting business however I'm kind of building my own major now so I hopped from business to Communications each semester if I start in business communication and I said I'm actually going to like Focus kind of building my own major and that kind of is a combination of business and communication would really a focus on entreneurship which is always have no Direction starting a business like that it always cold however I hadn't exactly know the path to get there and now I feel like I'm I'm more on that but if I would just say it's okay if the plans change and because I was in high school I was like I know I'm getting my business degree on pet store in I know all these things and how to Locked In And honestly there's so much pressure on young individuals coming out of high school that they have to have a feed up they need to to be honest with you for the most part you're major actually doesn't matter as much as the experience that you have outside of your of just your classes or it's a professor's you engagements it's the classmates you connect with is all the extra stuff that you take an opportunity of I think I'm still the same for high school opportunities for you to do that if you take a short time to talk to your teachers they'll talk to you for as long as you want to invest the extra time and you and like those are the things to look for if you choose to get involved extracurriculars at TC like those are going to enhance your experience and I found the same thing is true at my school now and John Carroll. I think I think Toledo Christian prepared me in the sense that I had an opportunity to do a lot I'm very much wire to be a person who doesn't talk so I did a lot of stuff during my time and because of that I looked at manage my time and feed a lot of things in and understood I'm confined like there was a level maybe I did too much some might argue and I would just be able to grind in that and I learned because of that that prepared me for what I would need to do like in college or what I have the to do in college is bouncing a lot of things on my schedule and when the time comes like say it's finals week like you got to push through so I think a lot of time management skills was something that I developed in high school with a lot of college kids struggle with but because I did at TC and around TC and in the community that helped me prepare I think a lot a lot of people and I think that is a good fit there is so interesting because there are people like the head of our school you know Mr. Gibson interacting with students through his program Grub with Gibson, which is houses literally get to it down you know 15-20 students to sit down with Mr. Gibson in and just talk and like that level of Engagement that kind of community that kind of care like that somebody that high up would have that you no desire to interact with students right that's how all of TC feels like you can go to Any teacher and have a conversation you can go to a lot of the other students I think genuinely care and a lot of ways as well especially speaking the staff it's like I always felt that I could go to any one of the teachers even to try me we haven't had yet and how to cut in half, hey I need some help with with this subject hey I would love to talk about this hey I had a question and not just related to class worker or school material but broader life you know next steps in Life or advice about the situation like they were always there to not be teachers but also mentors and I think that's the idea Village raising a child and that's what I feel like I've experienced at Toledo Christian well if you're considering coming to Toledo Christian especially having come from place maybe you are you at home I wouldn't be afraid to leave that because there's a lot of opportunity and a lot of experience that makes Toledo Christian someplace that I know I could always go home and for me I think there is a level of there's just so much investment from the staff so much time and energy dedicated to the students and so much opportunity for unique things I think House program is one of the most unique programs and I've seen in the Toledo area to create Community from high schoolers of all so you're going to get to learn from people who are older than you people that are younger than you people who are different than you and that I really enjoyed was especially in the house I would say there's a lot of opportunity to get in to do extracurriculars whether that sports, theater with music and band whether that's whatever it might be whatever your direction is there's an opportunity to pursue that if there's not already something I know people who have started different kind of gymnastics teams are different you know opportunities to represent Toledo Christian and TC is fully I think supported those so there is a huge opportunity to get in. Community and to grow to learn so I would encourage anybody to at least come to an open house at least give it a visit and have a feeling and talk to the staff and other students and I think you'll quickly understand the level of care that they have for each and every person comes. considering the financial implications of going to Toledo Christian thank you truthfully it's been an experience out of shape for you so much and I know I'm talking to friends who did go what schools did not have the same experience that I do and that sacrifice and not investment that they gave to me has put me in a position to succeed in ways that I'm still yet to discover so there is, yes there is a cost but I think the return on that is more than worth it I can get the exponential and something that I'm only beginning to understand the measurement of as the foundation, one of the foundation for making me who I am today and so I am extremely grateful that my parents made the sacrifice and made the contribution to put the extra effort but they did send me here because I know it has made me a better person to be honest with you like I don't exactly know where I would be if it hadn't been for TC I remember my experience before I came to Toledo Christian not positive and after a Christian a total switch kind of moment and from then on I grew to a huge level to where I am today and I'm continuing to see the benefits of that.
