Tuition Reduction Program
T.R.I.P. stands for Tuition Reduction Incentive Program. This is a program whereby you can purchase gift certificates at TCS and use them as cash when shopping at local stores. TCS purchases the gift certificates at a discount (from 2% to 24%) and sells them to you at face value. The discount (or credit) is then applied to your tuition account, the Barnabas account (to help students in need), or someone else's tuition account. You decide where you want your credits to go. Restaurants, department stores, grocery stores, gas stations, and even a major airline participate in the program. You can lower your tuition without spending any more than you are spending now. One of the greatest benefits of T.R.I.P. is that it acts as a household budgeting tool, causing you to carefully plan expenditures in order to maximize your tuition reduction. A few examples of current retailers: The Andersons 4%, Bob Evans 9%, JC Penney 7%, JC Penney 4%, Kroger 4%, Dillard’s 8%, Payless Shoes 12%, Red Lobster 8%, Speedway Gas 4%, Wendy’s 8%.
The all new TCS T.R.I.P. !!!!!
Here you will find the new policies and procedures associated with T.R.I.P. Please read through all of the policies, even if you have participated in T.R.I.P. in past years. Much has changed! All ordering is now done online!
For those of you who are new to the program, T.R.I.P. is a method for you to save money toward your tuition. You order the gift cards you want and pay for them at face value, and the school purchases them from our supplier at a discount, usually from 1.5% to 15%. Ninety percent of the difference between what the school pays and what you pay is set aside in your name and credited to your account twice each year. It’s as easy as that! (See program rules for further explanations of profit splits and ordering requirements.)
We are excited to offer you an online paying option. You will now be able to drop off a check or pay online using your bank account. (Credit cards will not be accepted due to the cost of processing fees, which defeats the purpose of saving you money.)
The Great Lakes Scrip Center and its affiliate shopwithscrip.com are very straightforward websites with many helpful tidbits for ordering. Once you are registered online and at TCS, ordering is as simple as on any other website – you put items into your cart, review your cart, and check out!
Registration forms can be mailed back to the school to the attention of TCS T.R.I.P. or brought to the Development Office. If you have questions about the new program, please feel free to contact Donna Lutz at 419.389.8700, extension 151, or email me at lutz@toledochristian.com.
Keep in mind:
- This is a voluntary program. If you do not agree to the program rules, you do not have to participate!
- All ordering is now done online.
- We MUST have a copy of your registration form in our office or your order will not be placed.
- Credits will be applied to tuition accounts twice a year.
- Monday orders mean Thursday availability for pick-up; Tuesday orders mean Friday pick-up.
- What you order is what you get! Please review your order carefully.
- Profits are split 90% to your account and 10% for the school to cover costs.
- Deadline for orders is 9 a.m. sharp!
T.R.I.P. Policies and Procedures (Effective August 1, 2011)
A registration form must be filled out prior to participation. Click here to obtain one to print out. Once we have your registration on file, you will not need to resubmit it unless you change which family will be receiving credit. You must also register yourself online at www.shopwithscrip.com. You will need to have an email address to register online and participate in T.R.I.P.
All orders must be placed online at www.shopwithscrip.com. We will not accept old order forms from previous years or hand written orders. Also, we will not take orders over the phone.
Payment for orders must be received in the T.R.I.P. office by 9 a.m. on Monday mornings (or Tuesdays on the weeks where any or all of the school is not in session on Monday.) NO EXCEPTIONS. The new program that we are running will enable us to have the order submitted earlier than in the past, so we will be unable to process orders after that time. Also, it is not the responsibility of your student’s teacher to get your payment to our office!
Profits will now be divided on a 90-10 basis. The ordering family will retain 90% of the profits, with the remaining 10% going back into the T.R.I.P. program to cover expenses such as shipping, paper, envelopes, and etc. All profits above and beyond these expenses will be rolled into the Barnabas fund to assist families in need.
No refunds will be given if you order the wrong item. Please be sure that you review what is in your shopping cart for accuracy before you elect to pay.
We anticipate ordering every week of the school year, with exceptions being any week that is three days or less (i.e. Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Spring breaks.) Pick-ups will also be weekly, with Monday orders available on Thursdays after 10a.m. and Tuesday orders available on Fridays after 10a.m.
Credits will be applied to your tuition accounts November 20th/December 5th and May 20th/June 5th depending on when your draws are set up in FACTS. Any issues must be resolved within 30 days of credit being given.
NSF fees will be passed back to any participant who bounces a check or online payment. Currently, the rate is $30 per NSF transaction. After two NSF transactions, we will no longer allow you to participate in the T.R.I.P program.
Occasionally, our supplier must place an item on back order. This is most likely true around the holidays, so plan accordingly. We will not be able to refund your money if this occurs, but in the past backordered items have been sent with the next order that we place.
Remember, this program is separate from Kroger, and all paperwork must be filed in our office for proper credits to be given.
Please be sure to read the terms and conditions of each card you purchase. Some cards are only valid in certain states; some cannot be combined with other offers. If you login to shopwithscrip, go to shop, and click on any vendor; these restrictions are listed in the product description.

How can I obtain the T.R.I.P. registration and order forms?
T.R.I.P registration forms are available here: http://www.toledochristian.com/forms/pdf/tripregistration.pdf
The T.R.I.P. mailbox is located in the main lobby. Teachers are not responsible for orders reaching the Development Office; students dropping off orders must put them in the T.R.I.P. mailbox. To keep traffic to a minimum in the Development Office, we are asking that you utilize this mailbox so that our volunteers may organize and process the orders with fewer interruptions.
Order Pick-up:
Pick-ups will also be weekly, with Monday orders available on Thursdays after 10a.m. and Tuesday orders available on Fridays after 10a.m. All orders must be signed for when they are picked up. When you sign for your order, you are agreeing that everything is correct concerning your order. Once it has left our office, it is no longer our responsibility. Therefore lost or stolen certificates will not be replaced.
Please take extra care when adding your order, if your order and check do not balance, we will adjust the order to fit the amount of the check. Certificates cannot be returned or exchanged once they have been purchased.
If the entire school is closed on Monday, we will place the order on Tuesday and pick-up will be Friday. If only some students are out of school, the order will be placed as usual.
