Mission Statement and Philosophy
It is the philosophy of the Eagle’s Nest Preschool and Transitional Kindergarten to provide age appropriate programs of learning experiences that enhance the child’s feelings of confidence and self-esteem, and provide a readiness foundation for future formal learning. These activities and experiences address the child as a “whole person” and are designed to promote the needs, interests, and abilities of each child through quiet and active involvement in the following areas:
Socially
- through interaction with other children, adults, and opportunities to learn about the community and world in which they live
Academically
- through use of developmentally appropriate readiness activities in areas of reading and number concepts
Physically
- through activities designed to enhance large motor to fine motor development
Spiritually
- through an understanding that God created us, loves us, and has a special plan for each life; therefore, we can choose to love God and obey Him
The Eagle’s Nest Preschool and Transitional Kindergarten programs reflect an understanding of child development principles. These principles are embodied in the curriculum design and general learning environment. We provide a safe and nurturing environment which promotes the social, emotional, spiritual, physical, and cognitive development of your children in a child-centered environment. We believe that all children have diverse natures, interests, and capabilities that should be developed to their full potential. We accept that challenge to address each child as an individual.
We are dedicated to providing experiences which are developmentally and cognitively appropriate to ensure that all children are challenged and inspired. The instructional delivery is organized around learning centers where opportunities are provided for children to acquire skills and concepts involving problem-solving, decision-making, questioning, evaluating, and discovering. Some examples of these centers include: table top art, science and nature, books and puppets, easel painting, housekeeping and dramatic play, puzzles and manipulatives, building blocks and wheel toys, musical instruments, listening area, computer games, discovery table, and letter/number areas.
Our integrative approach focuses on the process of learning which will give the children the tools to help them become successful and responsible learners. In addition to the classroom centers, time is set aside each day for music, snack, outdoor play (weather permitting), storytelling or creative dramatics, and individualized activities based on the child’s needs and/or interests.
We believe that children learn in an environment which is safe, supportive, and based on trust and respect. We acknowledge the necessity of physical and emotional well-being as the foundation for all learning. We value diversity and appreciate differences. Each child is an integral part in our community of learners.
